I was there in this trip with you ( I could recognise some of the pictures ) and all this must have transpired right in front of me and yet … to me it was just a peacock dancing , am amazed how you saw the “whole” picture and not just a “part” … well that separates a good photographer and a great narrator from the rest of us mere mortals …
Thanks Ashish, when picturing I was fully into taking pictures.
You know it , the rest is a figment of my imagination . It of course dances to attract the peahen, we did not spot one, but I have to piece it all together.
The pictures gain more meaning when positioned to tell a story gives a deeper side or different dimension to it.
All the images and narration was completely enchanting. The way you portray the story, it gives lot of freedom to your readers to think of how the story could have progressed actually. Thank you sir for sharing it.
You said it well. The reader has to have the freedom (call it, should be able to excite his/ her brain to create visual images in mind , not in the pictures presented to see how things would have unfolded. the pictures are just a guidance to the brain to develop multiple options).
Thanks again, do read the "Goldedn Girl" the new "InFocus" blog as well as "All I Need is Love" blog too
Such wonderful and innocent portrayal of our national bird. The put down words are mirror to the serene pictures of the peacock. This post is astonishing and extremely appealing. As always I'm enraptured.
Parag, beautiful narration and does complete justice to the pictures clicked!! I must admit while i was present on the same safari....my little understanding (or rather complete lack of it) of wildlife did not allow me to see the wild the way you did. I absolutely enjoyed the narration:)
There is always a "Shubharambh". So your Shubha(rambh) was better than mine. Took me years to understand the wild. Also part of is if not all is a figment of my imagination too (at that moment was completely occupied in photographing the peacock).
Guess you have not read the previous one "All I Need is Love" .. do read that , you would love it
Thanks a lot, Gautam. Kabini is getting sold out fast, it seriously is. i have enquiries about it from across India and abroad too. Such is the magic of nature & its bounty.
Thanks Sriram, i am witness to "many love stories" , just bring to all of you those which do not require an approval. The "wild love stories" . ha ha . just joking, my pleasure to share with my readers what I witnessed & what I observed as well as what emotions I went thru
Sir your narrations and amazing pictures always inspire me and has given an altogether new thought whenever I look around at nature, it has so much to say.
Never I had an experience of safari but reading you blogs I will definitely plan one.
So nice to hear this , Pushkar. Am happy to help individuals "fall in love" again , with nature of course (else i will get bashed). Also if it helps excite many to experience the wild and nature it motivates me further to stay "InFocus" and bring exciting stories from the wild.
In my previous house at Surat during 2007-2009 there was a lot of open space and we used to have regular visits of peacock and peahens . It used to be a sight to watch during monsoons. As new buildings started coming up, their visits reduced and then stopped.
Hi Anand, It is so nice to hear you revisit that past when nature was so close to us and how rapid urbanization has pushed us away from it , which overall is not good for ecological balance of the world and yet we do not seem to realize it.
Please do share it with others within the family and of course friends too
Nice photos of the peacock. Why peahens are dull looking? I don't know but I have heard that it takes a lot of effort by to seduce a peahen which is what our friend was doing which you have beautifully described. But was he successful. Sadly you could not see the peahen
The story ends with his success and he being highly satisfied and hence in full "glow" & "colour".
I want my stories to be "subtle" and hence not showing the peahen pushes the human brain to conjure up those images. A lot os us got influenced by "Enid Blyton" whose boos we read with mostly no pictures, it allowed our brains to create those images ourselves leading to a more active mind and brain.
So trying to keep it subtle as well.
But then good things of nature need to be seen too, hence "spraying' it with pictures as well.
Yes, Prsahant , you experienced it from close yourself. But you may have an image which could be quite different than that of mine. Is it ? how different ? I asked Subha , Ashish and Siva to let me know , whether they could understand that this is from our visit ? and how far the story played out in their mind if at all differently or how far away from their story is my story, wanted to know. So post "shubharambh" may be you can comment . Thanks
Parag your narrations are just poetry
Thanks for giving us the weekend safari
Thank you so much, Uncle. You are so encouraging and really generous. Hope you share it with aunty as well
Sure
That is so nice to know
I do not know what the peahen would have said, but definitely your readers would have thought, 'ये दिल मांगे मोर!'
ha ha , nice one , Anupam ... the peahen would have definitely said "I want U" ...
My most loved Peacock. It is fascinating to see eye catching colours of Peacock. I like the moment of opening feathers looks gorgeous...
Thanks a lot, Madhan . It is the most fascinating bird and when in plumage really beautiful. Thanks and happy you loved it
The narration is amazing Parag.

An enchanting anecdote of love and longing , was fortunate to see this kaleidoscope in person , with your kindness to take us to the lovely Kabini !
